More about the role This role is to act as the technical lead for the installation and commissioning for gas delivery systems for delivery of oxygen, hydrogen and fuel combustion systems supporting customer processes across multiple industries. The role has a significant customer facing responsibility, ensuring the process to integrate with the customer equipment is installed and commissioned safely and delivers gas/fuel safely and in line with UK and European standards.
As we move to decarbonise there is increased interest in the use of hydrogen as a fuel source for combustion, this is a relatively new technology and requires good collaboration with safety and controls engineers, and the need to adjust designs to meet new requirements at pace. The role supports customers in the UK with some installations in Europe region. The engineer would work with a European team to support installation and commissioning of new offerings in the market.
The engineer will be responsible annually for on average:
The installation of 10 customer projects a year, across the UK and potentially within multiple European countries
The delivery of technical documentation in support of successful commissioning activities and to support the commercial technology business development teams.
Remote and site based technical support activities, including furnace and gas delivery systems.
As the Application Field Engineer you will be responsible for: - Installation of equipment to meet legal, AP standards and customer needs in combustion. This may also include initial scope requirements at customer installation and identification of all associated activities.
- As the key customer contact being responsible for ensuring that all site requirements are met and a comprehensive set of paperwork is compiled to capture all activities to ensure and record the installation safety
- Project management of internal resources and of equipment build contractors to ensure delivery of equipment that is on time, on budget and right first time for quality and meeting agreed scope/design purpose
- Commissioning of gas delivery systems at the customer site, following all necessary safety and operational standards.
- Ensure ORI and risk assessments, project reviews are completed on a project-by-project basis ensuring technical files are created and stored.
- Provide technical support to both internal and external customers as required.
- Assist and deliver training to internal and external customers.
As a Sr. commissioning Engineer, you already are or have: - Minimum 10 year’s experience of commissioning and installation of complex systems at third party sites.
- Customer facing experience particularly with technical counterparts.
- Experience with gas systems, process controls, instrumentation systems and electricals
- Contractor management experience
- Strong written communication skills
- Be able to work remotely and able to travel to sites across the UK.
- Self-motivated independent worker
- Able to work at pace under pressure.
Education Requirements: - Time served Engineer with combustion installation knowledge.
- ONC / HNC in mechanical / electrical engineering.
- Experience with AutoCAD and ability to read P&ID detailed drawings.
Preferred Professional Licences and Certifications: - UK Driving Licence.
- Member of a recognised engineering institution
