Job description

What Will I be doing?
Reporting to Head of out of Production Spares, your responsibilities will include managing a team of buyers, along with co-ordination between internal procurement team and various internal customers, ensuring supply chain spares performance meets targets for Delivery, Quality and Cost. You will have experience in developing and managing new and existing suppliers, and be proficient in developing and managing contracts.

Your primary responsibilities and key accountabilities are as follows:

• Develop strategy for OoPS supply chain and publish MTP (5 year) vision. To include proposals for eventual re-establishment of autonomous OoPS supply chain team.
• On board new OoPS suppliers and develop the existing supply chain with view to meeting the current and future needs of spares customers.
• Working with Global purchasing team - Support development of both new OE and OoPS suppliers. Form strategies for re-alignment of current suppliers from OE to OoPS (or vice versa).
• Manage team of buyers, support development of OoPS purchasing team through training and mentoring.
• Ensure enquiries for new components and products are dealt with by the OoPS purchasing team providing timely and competitive solutions to the customer needs.
• Ensure all standards and PPM reporting activities from the team are on time and accurate, through use of robust processes and monitoring.
• Working with Spares PPM develop robust Make/Buy strategies for spare components and assemblies.
• Support REACH manager to ensure OoPS supply chain is compliant and/or has viable ‘Plan B' option in place for all impacted processes
• Develop KPI's for OoPs Purchasing and Procurement, to support requirements of Safran Gloucester Manufacturing balanced score card.
• Act as key interface and focal between current procurement team and customers to ensure alignment of demand and supply/deliveries.
o Work with internal Civil and military customer teams to identify critical parts and other key deliverables.
o Work with Procurement leaders, team leaders and Managers to develop and monitor full recovery plans focusing initially on critical parts and rolling out of all deliverables.
• Support planning team with contract review of more complex parts quoted in the supply chain.
• Support OE purchasing team and managers when necessary.
• Support procurement teams with in-load initiatives for special processing, to improve deliveries of OoPS parts from the supply chain (bringing in house operations such as plating, shot peen, paint etc, where supply chain capacity is limited)

Job Requirements

What do you need from me ?

• Purchasing skills including negotiations, supplier evaluation, cost reduction
• Proven sourcing experience, in UK and globally
• Able to understand and develop standard purchasing systems and procedures
• Competent in writing and coaching team with development & management of contracts
• Experience dealing with spares supply chain
• People management experience preferably in a purchasing environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Basic understanding of engineering requirements, specifications and drawings
• Able to develop and drive delivery of supply chain KPI's

Other
• Self motivated and able to work accurately under pressure
• Verbal & written French language skills an advantage
• Proficient in standard Microsoft tools including Excel and Powerpoint
• Knowledge of regulations related to military programmes
• Willing to travel occasionally in UK and Globally
• Comfortable working towards / to KPIs
• Understanding and adherence to health and safety regulations
• Basic understanding of quality requirements and tools
• Able to work with ERP (SAP) system

Ideally you will hold CIPS membership, and be qualified to degree or HND level in industrial engineering or business administration with a manufacturing bias; or a with Level 3 NVQ qualification linked to a relevant apprenticeship and 5-10 years experience in supply chain roles.
