Vacancy for General Vocational Technician
32½ hours a week (pro rata) term time only (38 weeks plus 1 week INSET)
Monday to Friday 8:30p.m – 3:30pm which includes a half hour unpaid lunch break
Start date: As soon as possible
Job Family grade PCD3: £23,151 FTE (£17,413 pro rata) which includes The Living Wage discretionary supplement, equating to £12 per hour. An additional payment of £104 per year will be paid for the provision of First Aid as a backup (see below).
The Lakes School is seeking to appoint a versatile multi-skilled General Vocational Technician as soon as possible to work across a range of subjects, as needed. Primarily, the successful candidate will work across PE, catering and textiles, as required. They will support timetabled class teachers by managing resources and working alongside students to help as requested. They will also be called upon to back up our first aid provision on the rare occasions when our Lead First Aider may not be available.
Prior school or industry experience in the areas of PE, outdoor education, catering and textiles will be an advantage but not essential. The successful candidate will have the ability to work well with children and with our other team members. They will build resilience, confidence and emotional intelligence in our young people. A sound understanding of the specific needs and barriers for all our students will be essential.
A First Aid qualification and experience of managing First Aid with children is essential although full training could be available to a successful candidate. Knowledge of the management of medication is desirable.
The ability to drive a minibus would be desirable.
