Job description
Health and Safety Compliance Operative who has good knowledge of Health & Safety with particular reference to building compliance is required to join the School’s Estates Team to ensure regular statutory and routine compliance reviews are carried out across the School buildings and grounds.
This position is known as a Compliance Operative in the School SALARY: £23,761 - £26,647 per annum + Benefits (see below) LOCATION: Brighton, East Sussex JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: 37 Hours per Week, 8am – 4:15pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am – 3:45pm Friday. Full Year JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Health and Safety Compliance Operative who has good knowledge of Health & Safety with particular reference to building compliance is required to join the School’s Estates Team to ensure regular statutory and routine compliance reviews are carried out across the Schools’ estate. Reporting to the Head of Estates, the Health and Safety Compliance Operative will help ensure the organisation’s compliance with various safety and regulatory standards, including but not limited to Legionella control, fire safety, emergency procedures, ladder inspections, and more. Working as the Health and Safety Compliance Operative you will be responsible for conducting inspections, implementing preventative measures, and maintaining documentation to guarantee a safe and compliant working environment. DUTIES Your main duties as the Health and Safety Compliance Operative include: Legionella Control • Conduct regular inspections of water systems to prevent and control Legionella • Implement corrective measures and ensure adherence to relevant guidelines • Maintain accurate records of Legionella testing and mitigation activities Fire Safety • Inspect and maintain fire doors to ensure functionality and compliance • Conduct regular fire exit assessments and drills • Collaborate with relevant teams to implement fire safety measures Emergency Light Testing • Perform scheduled testing of emergency lighting systems • Identify and address any issues with emergency lights promptly • Keep detailed records of emergency light testing results Ladder Inspection • Inspect and assess the condition of ladders on a regular basis • Ensure that all ladders meet safety standards • Implement corrective actions for any identified ladder safety issues Other Reasonable Duties • Execute various compliance-related tasks as required by the organization • Stay informed about industry standards and best practices • Collaborate with different departments to address safety concerns Documentation and Reporting • Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, including inspection reports • Prepare and submit compliance reports to relevant stakeholders • Assist in responding to inquiries and audits related to compliance matters CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Essential • Proven experience in a compliance or safety-related role • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, including Legionella control and fire safety • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Desirable • Certification in Legionella control or fire safety • Familiarity with safety inspection tools and equipment BENEFITS • 22 days holiday rising to 27 days after 5 years’ serviceJob tags
