Our client, a well-known school based in Blanford forum is looking for an experienced groundsman to work in and around their beautiful premises. As the new groundsman, you will be working as part of a team, to assist in the preparation, marking and general care of all outdoor sporting facilities: rugby and cricket pitches, hockey and netball pitches (synthetic), lawn tennis courts, track and field areas etc.

Working days for this role are Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week. There may be occasions which you will have to work on a Saturday.

DBS Enhanced is essential to apply for this role.

What's involved?

• Maintenance and general care of all playing surfaces, including the all-weather pitches/synthetic surfaces, to consistently achieve agreed standards, including regular mowing, watering and soil maintenance and the use of appropriate pesticides and fertilisers where necessary.
• Maintain areas around the sports fields, to include sports grounds buildings, general landscaping, watering and care of shrubs etc. and assisting in the general upkeep and maintenance of the area, including undertaking litter collection of open spaces and amenity areas.
• Making sure that regular general maintenance of grounds machinery i.e. mowers, brush cutters, tractors etc. in accordance with Health and Safety at Work requirements and manufacturers recommendations.
• Maintenance of ornamental lawns around the school site.
• Respond to extreme weather conditions (snow, ice and high winds) to help ensure the school can remain open.
• Operate in accordance with school's policies and procedures as detailed on the school's website and intranet and as set out in the Staff Handbook (Brystaff) and elsewhere, ensuring compliance with the School's Code of Conduct, the Safeguarding Policy and Child Protection procedures, the school's Health and Safety policy and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
