Job description

Full-Time (Part-Time candidates will be considered)

Start Date: September 2024

Reddam House Berkshire is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Counsellor to join our vibrant and inclusive school community. As a School Counsellor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional well-being of our students aged 4-18, fostering a positive and nurturing environment for their personal and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide one-on-one counselling sessions to students, addressing a range of emotional, social, and academic concerns.

· Develop and implement effective therapeutic interventions to support students in overcoming challenges.

· Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to create a holistic support network for students.

· Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' emotional and mental health needs.

· Facilitate workshops and group sessions on topics such as stress management, resilience, and interpersonal skills.

· Offer counselling to staff members if required

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria:

· Accredited by a recognized professional body (e.g., BACP, UKCP, HCPC) as a Counsellor.

· Proven experience working with students aged 4-18 in an educational setting.

· Strong understanding of child development and the impact of emotional well-being on academic performance.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and create a safe space for students to express themselves.

Desirable Criteria:

· Additional qualifications or training in child and adolescent counselling.

· Experience in implementing preventative mental health programs within a school environment.

· Familiarity with the UK education system and statutory guidelines related to student well-being.
