The Featherstone Academy
Location
Wakefield, West Yorkshire | United Kingdom
Job description
We seek to appoint a Teacher of Humanities at Featherstone Academy who is an inspiring and ambitious practitioner. We are passionate about providing every student with the opportunities to achieve their very best, and we are looking for a colleague who shares this passion. Can you instil a ‘Growth Mindset’ and nurture students to see challenges as opportunities to flourish? If so, we’d love to hear from you. We are a small growing school with an inclusive culture and warm ethos, yet we have big ambitions to be a beacon of learning, aspiration, and success for our local community.
Featherstone Academy is proud to be part of The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust. The Rodillian ethos of resilience, a Growth Mindset and Positive Discipline has helped to transform schools – from their culture to their Ofsted ratings – as well as the lives of students and teachers.
Within the Trust we are committed to doing things differently – creating schools that students want to attend, and where teachers want to work. We raise aspiration levels for staff, students and schools by encouraging creativity in the classroom, and by giving our staff freedom to experiment with their teaching, as part of our pioneering curriculum. All of this is guided by our Positive Discipline policy – a traditional approach to behaviour management.
The successful candidate will enjoy access to high quality CPD. You will also be joining a happy Trust where 95% of colleagues agreed that they enjoy working here and 92% would recommend us to a friend or colleague (taken from our staff wellbeing survey). Our commitment to staff wellbeing means we prioritise staff mental health, drive down unnecessary workload and support our colleagues to progress in their careers.
This role provides a real opportunity for you to make your mark, and as a growing Trust with an excellent reputation and access to high-quality CPD for all, there are always opportunities for career development.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers, contractors, and visitors to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service and other statutory checks.
