Our client based in central Greenwich are looking to recruit a Packing Manager to join their fantastic team who are continuously growing and expanding so keen to have someone join them on this journey
Job Purpose:
You will need to have excellent management and motivational skills, strong organisational capabilities, an eye for detail and perfection along with a desire for precision and accuracy. The Packing Manager will lead a team comprising an Assistant Packing Manager, three Supervisors, a Despatch Controller and 12 Packers that operate across two shifts, seven days a week.
Job Duties:
Packing Team Day-to-Day Management:
- Shift & rota management.
- Ensuring all hours are correctly logged and approved for payroll.
- Recruitment
- Performance management
- Absence management
- Disciplinary management with the support of HR
Packing Function Day-to-Day Management:
- Ensuring all customer orders are packed accurately all of the time.
- Ensuring the team packs in accordance with our packing standards ensuring that the product is well presented and appropriately protected.
- Ensuring all Technical and quality standards are adhered to and ensuring all Food Safety requirements are met at all times.
- Ensuring all cross contamination and allergen risks are correctly managed and minimised.
- Ensuring the Despatch Controller releases packed boxes to Transport accurately and supports the Transport team in ensuring deliveries are correctly loaded.
Issue Management:
- Ensuring all packing issues are investigated and resolved satisfactorily as quickly as possible.
- Reacting to and managing packing problems as they arise such as machinery breakdowns, accidents, unplanned absenteeism.
- Working with Customer Services to manage all customer complaints and putting in place corrective action where required.
- Communicating with Customer Services to manage customer expectations in relation to packing problems.
- Communicating effectively with Production and Transport to manage issues as they arise and ensure problems are headed off wherever possible.
- Where team members persistently make errors or shortages ensure that they are adequately briefed and trained to avoid future problems
Company Coordination:
- Working and liaising with other key departments such as Production and Transport to ensure products are despatched to be delivered on time to the customer.
Administration:
- Ensure all machinery is adequately serviced and supported and operates optimally.
- Implementing relevant KPIs and ensuring the department is managed in accordance with these.
- Ensuring the Packing area is well laid out, clear of obstruction and danger and operated within good H&S standards at all times.
- Ensuring the team are fully trained and working to further develop and motivate them to operate well at all times.
- Ensure all Watchlist and VIP customer requirements are fully monitored and implemented.
- Departmental budget management.
Business Improvement:
- Working with the Operations Director to ensure the Packing System develops and continues to meet the on-going needs of the business.
- Ensure the team structure is optimal to allow for top quality packing at all times.
- Reviewing equipment needs and working with the Operations Director to determine and justify and capital investment requirements.
- Identifying and driving business improvement initiatives related to Packing.
Experiene within a food service / manufacturing industry is essential to be right for this role.
Working Hours:
17.00pm and 02.00am 5 days a week but will require flexibility including weekend working at times to meet the needs of the business
