Job Overview
The Warehouse & Materials Manager will have responsibility for the efficient and effective running of both the Chadderton distribution centre and new units in Trafford Park.
The role is predominantly based at the Chadderton site.
This is a hands-on role to manage all goods inward, inventory and materials management. The link between the sites is key with logistics and on time movements crucial to output.
You will be responsible for the line management of both warehouses, monitoring the quality and efficiency of goods transported, storage between sites, planning and managing the movement of freight internally. The role will be critical in ensuring all stock levels are correct and transactions are accurately and efficiently processed. From a Materials Management perspective you will be responsible for the flow of components from the Warehouse through production to ensure an unbroken chain allowing the manufacture of goods on-time for the customer.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Direct and monitor all operational aspects of the warehouse, working on warehouse layout on an ongoing basis.
Responsibility for the flow of material throughout each site and ensuring a continuous supply to production.
Carrying out root cause analysis for stock loss and material disruptions to production.
Ensuring compliance to health, safety, environmental & quality standard and procedures.
Ensure quarterly stock takes and daily cyclic audits are in place.
Co-ordinate and monitor the receipt of product and storage.
A high level of responsibility and ability to use initiative and work autonomously.
Leading by example to create a high performing workplace environment, with a culture of continuous improvement via the development and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators.
Assists management with recruitment and training.
Monitor and plan holidays to ensure cover is provided.
Monitor sickness absence and management thereof.
Conduct team meetings to update staff on best practice, business updates and team objectives.
Conduct performance reviews with team members, setting smart objectives.
Develop working relationships with planning, production, procurement and commercial.
Effectively communicate with a wide range of employees within the business.
Use of computerised system for processing of goods received and transfer to production (Epicor).
Keep stock up to date and ensuring inventory is accurate.
Provides customer service, including interacting with customers (internal & external), answering queries, and effectively handling any customer complaints.
Key holding duties.
Quality Control.
Housekeeping and adhering to IS09001.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Proven skills and experience of manufacturing/engineering material control and supply logistics.
Diploma or qualification in a supervisory capacity.
Five years’ supervisory role in a Warehouse, Storage, or Retail facility.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent numeracy and analytical skills.
Teamwork.
Conversant with Lean Manufacturing Methodologies and techniques.
Excellent computer skills.
FLT Licence.
Bendi Licence (preferred).
