Project Controls Lead
Salary & Benefits 4b: £39,519 - £49,398 + up to 10% pension with 5% contribution + annual bonus + retail savings schemes + online GP access + life assurance cover + free on-site parking + 25 days holiday + 1 wellbeing day + bank holidays
Location: Bradford / hybrid working (1-2 days in the office per week)
Work type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday

The Asset Delivery team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
The Project Controls Lead will coordinate and lead project control activity for the programme of work that they are assigned to. They will drive the application of proportionate project control processes across the programme in AMP7 via collaborative working between Yorkshire Water (YW) Asset Planning, YW Service Delivery and the Delivery partner teams. Ensure health and safety excellence; regulatory compliance; operational integrity and resilience; operational efficiency by providing project control leadership to achieve the programmes required outcomes in the most efficient way.
As part of the integrated YW Project Controls team, they will be responsible for working with the team to ensure consistency in approach and data across the AMP7 programme, and in particularly will work closely with the Planner on their assigned projects to ensure a fully integrated approach to assessing and reporting project performance
Where you fit in:
As our Project Controls Lead you will:
- Coordinate project status reports and measure progress of key metrics, ensuring the data used is robust
- Chair regular sessions with the Project team to discuss project health, seeking solutions to any issues in performance
- Work with the projects to ensure they are following the agreed upon project control processes including financial forecasting, Change control, RAID management
- Work closely with the project planner to provide a fully integrated performance approach
- Work as part of the programme team to deliver excellent performance and understand how their individual performance links into achieving the team’s wider objectives
- Proactive approach to identifying potential threats to project performance and working with project teams to reduce this risk
- Understanding and developing best practice and innovation supported with measuring and monitoring the implementation of these new ideas
- Other work as needed in support of successful project delivery
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Experience of report preparation
- The ability to analyse and articulate key messages from project performance data
- Experience implementing Risk management and/or Change management processes
- Experience of tracking and reporting project cost profiles and knowledge of financial reporting principles
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to challenge undesired behaviours appropriately
- Experience of utilities or large Infrastructure projects
- Good IT skills and the ability to use multiple systems
- Ability to collaborate and build relationships across the wider teams
You will also benefit from having:
- Experience of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets
- Previous experience in a commercially orientated environment
- Previous experience gained within the water industry or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors
- Knowledge of Project planning tools and principles
We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 1-2 days in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
