Job description
Central Employment seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Marine Engineer to join our Client’s team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in electrical engineering, specifically focusing on marine systems. The role involves overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems on marine vessels.
The purpose of a senior electrical marine engineer is to lead and oversee the design, development, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems on marine vessels. This includes ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, troubleshooting, and resolving complex electrical issues, and managing a team of engineers. The senior engineer is also responsible for developing and implementing innovative solutions to improve the performance and efficiency of electrical systems on ships and offshore platforms.
Duties
- Design and develop electrical systems for marine vessels, including power generation, distribution, and control systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for new electrical systems.
- Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to ensure efficient and effective integration of electrical systems into overall vessel design.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on existing electrical systems.
- Manage projects and supervise junior engineers and technicians.
- Stay current on advancements in marine electrical technology and incorporate into design and development processes.
- Undertake electrical, electronic and control system overhauls and repair onboard customers vessels and in our workshop
- Carry out surveys, installation and commissioning activities, troubleshooting and diagnostics
Skills
- Marine ancillary equipment

- Switchboards and generators
- Basic Network communications and diagnostics, IP based systems
- Instrumentation communication, E.g.: RS232, RS485, Modbus, CAN bus, Ethernet
- Problem-solving ability
- Marine and Offshore industry experience
- HSE knowledge
- Willingness to travel as required to fulfil the duties of this position
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical engineering, focusing on marine systems.
- Strong grasp of electrical engineering principles, practices, and standards.
- Hands-on experience with marine vessel electrical systems and equipment.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
- Proficient knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards.
