Job Description
Purpose of Role:
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, energetic, creative and inspirational individual who will strategically lead grassroots disability football and inclusion initiatives across Cymru, coordinating our strategic goals and objectives on disability and inclusion.


The role will influence and support the growth and retention of both disability football, and participation levels with under-represented groups, in accordance with the goals and objectives set out within the FAWs ‘Our Wales’ corporate strategy and the FAWs Grassroots ‘Enhancing Lives’ and ‘PAWB’ strategies.

The role will advise, influence and lead on grassroots solutions to disability and inclusion challenges. Key objectives will include the development of a stronger disability pathway to increase the number of people with a disability playing community football, and to increase the number of participants from ethnically diverse community (EDC) football.

The post holder will develop and implement a disability football framework, with clear objectives to grow the game, and create a development plan to specifically support the development of football opportunities for people from under-represented groups.

Key Areas of Responsibility
• Act as the subject lead for disability and inclusion within the FAW Grassroots department, directly influencing and supporting the regional workforce, specifically the individual work programmes of regional Participation Officers.
• Work strategically to align current and future disability football provision, ensuring an integrated approach across the FAWs Area Association networks, and alongside key partners from across the disability, health and voluntary sectors.
• Lead on the growth of disability football provision through the development and successful implementation of a long term Disability Football Framework and subsequent annual action plans.
• Develop and implement an action plan to specifically support the development of football opportunities for people living within ethnically diverse communities also taking into account other under-represented groups.
• Supporting the volunteer workforce that maintains and delivers disability and EDC football provision.
• Responsible for developing relationships with new and existing stakeholders, shaping programmes and approaches to engage new players and retain existing players in the game.
• Coordination and delivery of CPD training and events to promote disability and inclusion within the grassroots football family.
• Management of the FAW ‘PAWB Fund’, working closely with the Grassroots Administrator to distribute the fund to support low-income families to access regular football opportunities and appropriate equipment.
• Support in growing the number of PAWB Equality Champions at Grassroots Clubs.
• Providing disability and inclusion advice and guidance to FAW staff and key stakeholders.
• Develop educational resources for staff, stakeholders and members of the football community.
• Produce regular progress reports and provide advice for consideration to the FAW Community Game Board, Board and Council where necessary.
• Collaborate with the FAWs ‘Senior Equality Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainability Manager’ to support with Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives.
• Keep in touch with data trends, research and insight to support the development and growth of disability and inclusion, and reporting obligations to Sport Wales, UEFA and FIFA.
• Budget development, management and monitoring relating to team priorities and activities.
• Representation on the FAW’s Equality Advisory Group.
• Develop and support regional networks and clubs to become safe and inclusive of disabled participants through delivery of a programme of services ensuring modern, fit for purpose structures are in place.

Person Specification

Qualifications
• Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.
• Related Disability and / or Inclusion qualifications (Desirable).

Knowledge, Skills & Experience - Essential:
• At least two years’ experience and expertise working in a professional environment on disability and inclusion issues, or related experience.
• Exceptional understanding of, keen interest in, and demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Strategic planning including experience of interpreting data and research insight to inform developments.
• Ability to think innovatively, take initiative, put ideas into action, and complete projects as a result of these ideas.
• Knowledge of disability and EDI initiatives in football.
• Knowledge and understanding of EDI principles and legislation.
• Ability to manage and prioritise a demanding workload with excellent organisational skills.
• Experienced at building relationships and maintaining those relationships, both internal and external.
• Experience with Microsoft applications, for example, Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
• Ability to respect and keep secure any confidential information.
• The ability to work as part of a team but also without supervision.
• The ability to work outside of normal working hours.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience - Desirable :
• The ability to speak Welsh.
• Knowledge and understanding of grassroots and domestic football in Wales.
