Job description
ISHR EAL teachers will be excellent communicators and collaborators who value home languages and champion multilingual learners. EAL teachers foster a safe, nurturing, research-based, English learning environment. EAL teachers who are part of this whole school department work collaboratively with homeroom teaching teams in the Primary, as well as with specialist teachers as appropriate. They have the ability to coach, mentor or advise colleagues in language-focused instructional techniques as needed. The EAL programme is continuously evolving to best meet the needs of students who have English as an additional language. It aims to support their development of English through content-based lessons, but naturally includes a focus on both academic language and everyday communication. EAL teachers will offer individual, small group, or in-class support across the Primary school, including Early Years, according to student need.
Applicants with previous experience as an EAL teacher in a PYP school are preferred.
ISHR has a commitment to Inclusive Recruitment.
