Are you passionate about software? We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join the team. SPT Labtech is a global supplier of innovative and enabling products for the life sciences industry.

We are looking for a software developer to join the team working on a multi-million-pound development project as well as on our current product range.

About the role:

You will be naturally curious, enjoy working collaboratively and be interested in the science and engineering behind our products. As an independent thinker, you will get plenty of freedom to try things out and can learn from your colleagues across the business.

The role involves spending time on hardware in the lab which means being in the office often. However, we are flexible and offer hybrid working.

Responsibilities:

• Write Windows desktop applications using C# and WPF using OO techniques. Write software using C# & C++ to develop mechatronic solutions.
• Contribute to the architecture and development of our products.
• Work within a team of experience software engineers.
• Be part of the full product lifecycle from concept to release

Skills & Attributes

You'll ideally have:

• A good degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline
• 3+ years developing production code.
• Object-oriented design & programming skills.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and creative thinking skills.
• Strong understanding of .NET async and multithreading frameworks.
• Strong and demonstrable experience architecting and implementing complex software.
• Excellent C# development experience.
• Some experience writing C++ firmware code for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary and multidomain electronics, mechanical and software) systems.
• Excellent communication skills.

You may also have experience of:

• Excellent experience working with embedded systems communication protocols (I2C/SPI/UART/USB/Ethernet).
• Experience developing image processing applications using OpenCV.
• Experience developing ASP.Net Core applications.
• Experience developing gRPC applications.
