Role overview:
As a software engineer, you will work with other digital disciplines to understand user needs and what needs to be built, identifying, creating and applying software development and security standards and processes as required. There will be opportunities to monitor changes in the technology on which our clients rely and alert them on any issues or trends affecting the software. You will adhere to the industry's best practices, produce well-engineered modern products and guide others in doing so. You will employ security controls to build secure products, and proactively engineering solutions to mitigate security threats. You will uphold confidentiality and integrity in handling information, working with others to ensure compliance and information assurance. Come join our team in Sheffield.
Responsibilities:
- Support and maintain software as required, including packaging and deploying software built in the live environment.
- Write, amend, refactor and document code to build complex programs/components/scripts whilst applying agreed modelling techniques, standards, patterns and tools
- Practice the agreed methodology and apply it to your work, identifying obvious deficiencies and supporting activities to improve the development process and choose the most appropriate from a variety of methods of prototyping, actively soliciting prototypes from others
- Seek to learn and further develop your skills as required for your role through active participation in the Group's L&D activities
About you: - Aminimum Bachelor's degree (2.1 or higher) is required inIT, Computer Science, or in a Technology-related field
- Experience in JavaScript, C# and PL/SQL as well as Circle CI and AWS CodePipeline for deployment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and deliver initiatives and outcomes which are compelling, accurate, and engaging both clients and stakeholders
- Experience with application monitoring tools such as: Sentry, Kibana, Grafana and Prometheus as well as Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP and Azure
- Experience in Agile development - including understanding user needs, building proof of value Alphas, evolving end state solutions and managing in-life operations
