Permanent

Grade 3 - £25,119 - £31,364

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and outcome drivenperson to join the Benefits Service as a Benefits Officer.

Please note the successful candidate will work as part of the Benefit Service’s Change Management Team, part of the Digital and Customer Services division. Our purpose is to maximise income to citizens by awarding benefit promptly and accurately and promote the take up of relevant welfare benefits. To efficiently administer the Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support schemes thus enabling maximisation of Government subsidy whilst achieving service excellence.

The post holder must have experience of Housing Benefit (HB) and Council Tax Support (CTS) and will use this knowledge to support the design, delivery, and implementation of benefit focussed projects and changes, including IT upgrades, policy, regulatory, statutory or efficiency led changes.

Good communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work accurately and manage your own work within a very busy Benefit Service are essential. The applicant will have the ability to accurately interpret and relay information, tobe able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and achieve targets. Theywill bring some experience of project working, process design, user acceptance testing or implementing change.

The post holder is expected to apply business knowledge to a range of IT applications, products, and services, notably the primary IT application Revenues & Benefits Integrated System (RBIS NEC) in addition to a range of other IT applications. The role includes working closely with other departments and a range of stakeholders so is reliant upon a collaborative approach and excellent team working skills.

The post offers flexibility to work in line with the Councils hybrid arrangements working from home (subject to a suitable internet connection) and the central office (Woodcock Street, Birmingham).
