Position Title: Fundraising & Communications Manager
Location: Hybrid. Loughborough and other locations across Leicestershire as required.
Hours of duty: 37 per week, some unsociable hours will be required.
Salary: 33,342.92 - 34,535.80 (as of 1 st April 2024)
Contract : Permanent, full time
About us:
Falcon Support Services provides supported accommodation and community projects to those that are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or vulnerable in the community.
Our service helps vulnerable people by providing safe and secure accommodation with our staff working alongside clients to help them develop their skills, so they can move away from homelessness to living independently and positively contribute to their community.
Role Purpose:
The Fundraising and Communications Manager role is a pivotal role within the organisation with a focus on delivering Falcon Support Service’s Fundraising Strategy, meeting organisational and fundraising targets.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and proactive fundraiser who can demonstrate a real passion for fundraising and make a tangible contribution to increasing the charity’s financial position, including individual giving, community events, corporate partners and trusts and foundations, alongside our external communications.
This is an opportunity to join a dynamic Fundraising and Communications team with an ambitious fundraising target, so it's important to us that you can lead and motivate a small team, with an eye on developing the team and generating income.
Main responsibilities:
Fundraising
- Design, communicate and lead on Falcon Support Services Annual Fundraising Strategy in close collaboration with the leadership and finance team.
- Lead on fundraising across multiple streams building and maintaining relationships with diverse funders including corporates, community groups, charitable trusts, foundations and individual donors that have the potential to support our work.
- Research and identify corporate sponsorships as part of our Business Champions programme to feed into the prospect pipeline.
- Work with the team to manage a portfolio of corporate supporters, organising and hosting our quarterly Falcon Net Business Champions meetings.
- Attend local Business Networking events across Leicestershire, including Loughborough BNI where we currently hold a charity seat and others such as Buzz, Bistro Live, Kuku Connect, Ashby Connect, including identifying new networking groups in key countywide locations.
- Support and organise in person challenges and events such as – Great North Run, 3 Peaks, music gigs etc
- Plan and manage innovative in person and online Community fundraising events, working alongside our Volunteer Co-ordinator and Community Fundraiser.
- Maintaining online fundraising platforms, social media feeds and associated communication tools alongside the Communications Officer.
- Create and maintain a database of supporter, donors and potential funders, maintaining accurate records that are kept up to date and information handled confidentially in accordance with the Data Protection Act and GDPR regulations.
- Ensure effective donor stewardship where donors feel valued.
- Monitor progress and impact of fundraising drives, producing reports as required by SMT and Board of Trustees/Fundraising sub-committee.
- Coordinate, prepare and submit grant/trust applications.
- In the case of grant funding ensure that monitoring and evaluation processes are embedded across the organisation, ensuring that all grant conditions are met and relationships with funding managers maintained.
Communications
- Represent the organisation in a professional positive manner whether liaising with members of the public, people working in other teams, volunteers, and other supporters.
- Deliver presentations to large groups at schools/colleges/corporate
- Attend out of hours award and presentation nights.
- Network and collaborate with key partners locally and nationally on campaigns as required.
- Work with departments across the charity to maximise opportunities to promote our work and activities, including our work-based training offer to businesses/organisations.
- Develop communication strategies to aid information sharing between teams.
- Manage all aspects of our communications including PR and press/media relations, public affairs, social media, brand and creative services, marketing and promotion, internal comms, employee engagement and digital transformation.
- Lead, motivate and support the communications team to devise and implement marketing and communications strategies for external and internal audiences
- Ensure that our content is engaging, effective and suitable for our channels and audiences
- You will have editorial responsibility for key communication outputs including annual reports, publications, fundraising marketing materials and web site, to name just a few. You will be able to flex your writing style depending on the audience and be able to write for impact.
General

- To undertake/attend any training and/or meetings as required by the job role.

- To undertake any such additional duties that are reasonably commensurate with the level of this post.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
- Experience of professional fundraising, or similar experience in a marketing, sales or business development environment
- Track record of setting and achieving income targets essential
- Have excellent relationship building, communication and networking skills
- Confident at public speaking and delivering presentations
- Experience of managing people
- Hard working, determined, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative to achieve results
- Effective time management and organisational skills
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
- Ability to initiate and develop relationships with a variety of different people
Qualifications:
- It is desirable to have a relevant professional qualification - IOF/CIM - or working towards
Mandatory Requirements:
- Must be over the age of 18
- Willingness to undergo a satisfactory enhanced DBS check
- Hold a valid driving licence, have access to a vehicle for business purposes and have/be willing to get business car insurance
