The Bogside and Brandywell Initiative are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Community Development Worker. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in community development. No prior experience is required as training will be provided on the job..
Responsibilities
- Actively engaging with residents, community groups and local stakeholders to comprehend their needs, concerns and aspirations.
- Assisting in the planning, implementation and evaluation of community development programs and initiatives focused on addressing identified issues and promoting community cohesion.
- Contribution to the planning and execution of community events, workshops and activities that foster inclusivity, social interaction and cultural enrichment is a key aspect.
- Working with community members to recognise and nurture local talents, skills and resources, thereby fostering a sense of empowerment and self-sustainability.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with local businesses, educational institutions and social service providers are also crucial to enhance the community's access to resources and opportunities.
- Keeping accurate records of community initiatives, events and outreach efforts, preparing regular reports for supervisors and stakeholders to showcase the impact of community development activities.
- Active participation in training programs and workshops is encouraged to enhance skills and knowledge in community development, social work and related fields.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Minimum educational qualification (training will be provided on the job).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Passion for community development and social justice.
- Familiarity with the specific needs and challenges of the Bogside and Brandywell community.
