We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Systems Integration Engineer at our site in Yeovil. The successful candidate will be expected to be a customer technical point of contact and may be required to lead global Honeywell resources and external suppliers to define and align product designs with customer requirements.
System engineering is an interdisciplinary role that focuses on the design, integration and management of complex systems. The role of the Systems Engineer encompasses the complete product design and development life cycle including system concept development, system architecture, design, build, qualification, certification support and in-service support.
Mechanical Systems Integration Engineer responsibilities
· System concept definition and development.
· System architecture definition, development and detailed design, which will involve interfacing to system performance analysis, system safety, system testing, electronic controls and the chief engineering organization.
· Requirements management, which will involve:
o The review and flow down of customer requirements to system and equipment specifications; including requirements validation and the appropriate allocation of requirements
o Discussions and reviews of electronic controls requirements to ensure appropriate allocation of system functionality and requirements
o The use of the DOORS requirements management tool. Experience in the use of DOORS would be useful.
o The identification of requirement means of compliance and the co-ordination of verification activities to ensure compliance to the customer requirements
· The complete Life Support System life cycle, including systems requirements capture and management, systems design, support to systems modelling and verification testing. Interpretation of test results and problem-solving skills are required.
· Monitoring and reporting of system and equipment design / development status to internal and external customers.
· Liaising closely with other functions, including Project Engineering & Program Management, Design, Test, Analysis, Reliability & System Safety, Electronic Controls, Chief Engineers, Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing and Customers as and when necessary.
Qualifications
· An engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Systems Engineering.
· Knowledge of thermodynamic and fluid dynamic theory and practice would be useful.
· Experience in requirements management.
· Specific experience of working with Life Support Systems or Environmental Control Systems would be useful. However, other relevant systems experience would also be taken into account and assessed on merit.
· A strong background and experience of engineering practices, design and practical applications would be useful
