Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our Client's healthcare team in Kettering. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing healthcare services to incarcerated individuals, contributing to their well-being and ensuring the delivery of essential healthcare within the prison setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Assist in providing basic healthcare services to inmates, including taking vital signs, administering medications, and performing minor medical procedures as directed by the medical staff.
- Support the healthcare team in managing chronic conditions and acute illnesses among the inmate population.
Medical Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient.
- Document all healthcare interactions, procedures, and medications administered in accordance with prison policies and procedures.
Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies within the prison facility.
- Follow established protocols for emergency care and summon additional medical personnel as needed.
Medication Management:
- Ensure the safe storage, administration, and distribution of medications to inmates.
- Monitor medication compliance and report any irregularities to the healthcare team.
Infection Control:
- Adhere to strict infection control practices to prevent the spread of infectious diseases within the prison population.
- Promote and educate inmates on proper hygiene and disease prevention.
Prison Security and Safety:
- Comply with all prison security measures and safety protocols.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor when interacting with inmates and prison staff.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Possession of prison clearance or the ability to obtain one is mandatory.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude.
- Ability to work in a secure and potentially challenging environment.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- First Aid and CPR certifications are a plus.
