Job description
Residential Child Care Support Worker with the ability to engage with children and teenagers who have complex emotional needs, good communication and time-management skills is required for a well-established organisation based in Wokingham, Berkshire.
Ideal candidates will have a professional qualification - QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) but this is not essential as the organisation can offer ongoing support and training, and the option to complete the QCF Level 3 upon successful completion of your probation period. SALARY: £26,421 - £33,024 per annum (depending on skills, experience and qualifications) + Benefits LOCATION: Wokingham, Berkshire JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week – candidates will need to be flexible and able to work shift patterns which include weekends, overnights, late shifts and bank holidays ** Multiple Jobs Available ** JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Residential Child Care Support Worker with the ability to engage with children and teenagers who have complex emotional needs, good communication and time-management skills. Working as a Residential Child Care Support Worker you will join a brand-new residential children’s home, playing a vital role in supporting the delivery of a professional, child-centred service. As a Residential Child Care Support Worker you will take on the role of a corporate parent, ensuring the welfare and safety of children and young people, and provide high-quality support to ensure the best outcomes. There are a variety of opportunities available for both experienced Support Workers with a children or young person background, and inexperienced individuals with transferable skills and the desire to positively impact young people’s lives. DUTIES Your duties as a Residential Child Care Support Worker will include: • Take on the role of a corporate parent, providing children and young people with love and direction • Ability to connect with and build meaningful relationships with children and young people who have had complex early lives • Take immediate action when the welfare or safety of children or young people is at risk • Ensure that the wishes, thoughts and feelings of children and young people are advocated • Delivery of high-quality support and guidance in order to promote the best outcomes possible for children in placement • Support the Homes Manager to exceed expectations at Inspection and Regulation 44 visits, in terms of delivering positive outcomes for young people • Be flexible and willing to do activities with the children and young people along with attending appointments CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS • Professional qualification in (recognised and current) QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare, or equivalent, OR willingness to work towards this within the statutory timescales • The ability to engage with children and teenagers who have complex emotional needs • Previous experience in Social Care is desirable, but not essential • Ability to work the required shift patterns including weekends, overnights, late shifts and bank holidays BENEFITS • Generous annual leave entitlementJob tags
