As Senior Accountant you will be joining a thriving accountancy practice. You will be responsible for providing high-quality accounting services to their clients, including preparing financial statements, tax returns and VAT returns as well as taking a senior role within the team helping team members with their work, reviewing and providing feedback where required. You will also have the opportunity to provide advisory services to clients on various business matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-Prepare year-end accounts for a range of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
-Complete tax returns and ensure that they are submitted on time to HMRC
-Provide clients with advice on various standard business matters, such as VAT, PAYE, and corporation tax
-Manage client relationships and respond to their queries in a timely and professional manner
-Ensure junior team members are allocated work appropriately, their work is reviewed prior to finalisation, and constructive feedback is provided in a timely fashion in consultation with the relevant Director(s)
-Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
-Assist with the training and development of junior members of the team
-Lead the workflow management process for delivery of client services and deadlines
PERSON SPECIFICATION
-Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/AAT)
-Previous experience working in a practice environment would be advantageous – minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a busy practice
-Knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
-Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
-Ability to a lead small team to deliver work to deadline
-Ability to supervise junior staff
-Experience of understanding systems and processes and recommending improvements where applicable
-Ability to deliver specific, stand-alone projects to help grow the practice
-Experience of tracking and meeting key performance indicators (KPIs)
-Knowledge of Sage, Iris, TaxCalc, VT & Xero etc
