Northern State University seeks one full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of
Communication Studies to begin August 2024.

Qualifications : The Department English, Communication and Global Languages seeks a PhD
in Communication with a specialization in Public Relations or related field. (Note: ABD with
definite completion date will be considered). The successful candidate must demonstrate
a commitment to undergraduate education and the ability to build an effective rapport with
undergraduate students in an on-campus learning environment. The department is looking
specifically for a candidate with expertise in digital marketing and quantitative impression
analysis. The successful candidate will also possess the necessary qualifications to help students
attain the certifications essential to be competitive in the field of event management.

Responsibilities : The applicant will teach twelve credit hours per semester in both introductory
and upper-level public relations and communication studies courses. The candidate must be
highly motivated to develop new courses and grow our current curriculum, including an
interdisciplinary approach. The applicant will also lead the College of Arts and Science public
relations social media accounts. Other expectations include research and scholarly activity,
career advising, maintaining a strong campus presence, supporting student recruitment and
retention efforts, and other duties as assigned such as teaching Freshmen Seminar.
