JOB TITLE: Site Reliability Engineer

SALARY: The salary banding for this role is £68,202 - £75,780

LOCATION: Edinburgh

HOURS: 35 hours, full time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this opportunity

Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for Release defining and contributing to a customised release framework for a Lab, automating and improving processes used for Route to Live deployments/implementations.

The key objective is to reduce toil. Toil is the kind of work tied to running a production service that tends to be manual, repetitive, automatable, tactical, devoid of enduring value, and that scales linearly as a service grows.

You’ll be aiming to deliver the highest quality customer driven software/ Infrastructure whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting their engineering teams. You’ll work in cross-disciplinary teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions and high quality software/ Infrastructure and showcase excellent interpersonal and communication skill whilst efficiently working across the project life cycle to ensure software operates as intended.

This is a leadership level role and will blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature/delivery team and great passion for coaching and developing people in a 'player-coach' model.

Working closely with the Technical Delivery Managers to manage the realisation into Production activities, through route to live data, environments and engineering dependency consultation/support/delivery.

You’ll be highlighting shortcomings and suggesting improvements in current IT Security processes, systems and procedures within assigned unit and/or discipline. Whilst delivering prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by working within established knowledge management systems.
