Hours as and when required, day and evening shifts available

Do you need flexibility in the days you work? Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However, you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.

We’re seeking a Bank Care and Support Assistant to join our team. Extra care housing is  housing with care primarily for older people where customers occupy self-contained flats and where they have agreements that cover the provision of care, support, domestic, social, community or other services.

You will be providing personal, practical and emotional support to customers living in the Extra Care Scheme, ensuring personalised care and support that enables and encourages customers to reach and maintain an optimum level of independence.

The role of Bank Care and Support Assistant will include:

• Providing a high quality, personalised care, and support service
• Delivering expert support to customers including the sensitive delivery of personal care and managing medication e.g. personal hygiene, continence management, dressing
• Encouraging customers to lead fulfilling lives by building positive relationships and developing hobbies and interests
• Managing nutrition and hydration needs
• To ensure that all records are kept up to date to ensure compliance
• Record all actions/tasks undertaken at each visit on the care plan sheet
• Take account of and regularly review health and safety hazards and risks within the customer’s home
• To liaise with family members, friends and other professionals as and when appropriate
• Promoting safe practices and undertaking risk assessments

Skills and experiences:

• Personalised approach, ideally with experience within a similar, care related role
• Enthusiastic and flexible with a strong “can-do” attitude
• Strong organisational skills, as well as functional literacy and numeracy
• Good communication skills, allowing you to build relationships with customers
• Ability to react quickly to changing priorities whilst working to deadlines and targets
• NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or willing to work towards is essential
