About Our Client
Michael Page Engineering are working in partnership with an industrial manufacturing business in the Derbyshire area to find a Health and Safety Manager. This role will oversee all manufacturing operations and drive improvements across ISO standards 14001 and 45001. We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and passionate individual to join the leadership team as the Health and Safety Manager. This key leadership role requires a strong background in Health and Safety and an ability to influence at all levels of an organisation.
Our customers is a market leader in their field and support multiple industries in bespoke engineered products. The business is going through a growth curve and needs this new Health and Safety Manager to increase their safety systems and procedures
Job Description
We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and passionate individual to join this industrial manufacturing business as the Health and Safety Manager. This key leadership role requires a strong background in Health and Safety, a deep understanding of ISO standards (14001, and 45001), and preferably an engineering/technical background. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and implementing robust HSE practices throughout the organisation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and driving a culture of safety and continuous improvement. they will also:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive HSE strategy aligned with organisational goals and objectives.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the HSE team, promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and evaluate existing HSE processes, policies, and procedures to identify areas for improvement and develop appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, industry standards, and ISO standards (14001, and 45001).
- Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement effective control measures.
- Lead incident investigation processes, analysing root causes, and implementing preventive measures to minimize the risk of recurrence.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees at all levels, promoting awareness and understanding of best practices.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of HSE initiatives and report on performance to senior management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, and Human Resources, to integrate HSE requirements into business processes and projects.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices in HSE, and proactively recommend improvements to the organisation.
The Successful Applicant
The successful applicants with have:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related disciplines) is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Extensive experience in a leadership HSE role within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Proven track record of implementing effective HSE management systems, driving cultural change, and delivering measurable results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop practical solutions.
- Familiarity with engineering principles and processes is advantageous.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong attention to detail.
