Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Overview:
We are working with a SEN school in Shrewsbury who are looking to recruit a SEN TA! This is a full-time position where you will work closely with students aged 3-19 with a wide range of SEN needs, including complex needs, autism, and ADHD. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of these students, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive in a learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEN in both individual and group settings.
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the well-being and independence of all students.
- Implement strategies to support students' communication, social, and emotional development.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as necessary.
- Support students during transitions between activities, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with individuals with SEN, particularly those with complex needs, autism, and ADHD.
- A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
- An understanding of different learning styles and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and use your own initiative when required.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is required for this position.
