Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted rated "Good" residential children\'s provider as they require motivated and reliable support workers for temporary to permanent contracts. This company supports up to 24 children and young people between the ages of 4 - 19 with complex ASD and behaviours that challenge. This is a full-time contract, 37.5 hours per week.
Your new role In your new role as a residential childcare worker, you will be supporting children and young people with complex ASD and behaviours that challenge, between the hours of 7:30am - 10:30pm. You will be supporting the young people on a 1:1, 2:1, and 3:1 basis dependent on their needs, a number of which are none-verbal and require the use of PECs and Makaton to communicate. You will effectively manage behaviours by identifying triggers for young people and removing them from a triggering or over-stimulating environment. Other duties will include, but may not be limited to personal care, administering medication, meal preparation, feeding, and observations.
What you\'ll need to succeed To be successful with your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 6 months referenceable UK based experience in care in the last 2 years, as well as:
- Be willing to work towards an NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in residential childcare
- Be willing to learn
- Have experience supporting or knowledge of autistic spectrum disorders
