About the job
The Cloud Information Services team is looking for an Information Systems Engineer to work in the EMEA Infrastructure as a Service Division (IaaS) as part of the Network Engineering Team to analyse, evaluate, trouble shoot, test, and implement technologies in support of SAS’ core business services.
This role will have a primary focus on Cloud Technologies, mainly Microsoft Azure in support of our UK Government & Public Sector Customers but with an additional focus on our Corporate Environments. You will be expected to maintain standards and best practices to ensure Service Excellence, whilst providing critical support for a variety of customers day-to-day.
SAS is expanding remotely managed and hosted Cloud Services for all SAS platforms into a growing list of global locations. As an Information Systems Engineer, you will be joining a talented team that have responsibility for all Infrastructure Services (Network & Systems) within the EMEA region.
As a Information Systems Engineer, you will:
- Key Proficiency in Microsoft Azure, encompassing IaaS design & deployment.
- Design, implement and manage high velocity infrastructure, high-performance, secure and scalable network and maintain Azure Firewalls, VPN Technologies
- Understanding of Application, Server and Network Security, as well as compliance requirements
- Define support playbooks for additional personnel.
- Define and maintain corporate standards including naming conventions.
- Manage lifecycle of platforms (hardware, OS, services) through the SAS TIME Model Framework.
- General user support through debugging, troubleshooting, and user communications.
- Own and maintain living documentation for all services offered.
- Performs usage planning, forecasting/trending, hardware/software configuration and installation of such items as operating systems, and patch management infrastructure, productivity applications, and virtualized environments.
- Provides primarily office hours support with occasional outside of hours on-call service in support of incidents and requests for Infrastructure Services
- Assist with special projects, as assigned, in design, implementation, transition, and operational roles
- Provides software support for assigned products, including installation, maintenance, documentation, customization, and utilization of product features.
- Diagnoses and resolves user and operational problems with the SAS Cloud environment.
- Works closely with Global Information Security to implement solutions to maintain SAS’ security posture.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with team members and customers
- Provides mentoring and direction for other members of the team
- Takes an active role in establishing departmental objectives
- Willingness to proactively improve processes and identify gaps in existing processes
- Ensure service delivery in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs) for Incident and Change Management
Required Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of Azure Cloud Services & Implementation including Vnets, landing zones, endpoints, AKS etc
- Implement, Support & Manage Externalized Application Access in Azure utilising:
- Azure Native VPN and Azure Private Link
- Cisco VPN
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- General competence in Router/Firewall management, VPNs, and network segregation such as vLANs & DMZs following SAS security best practices.
- Solid understanding of DNS, DHCP, and routing
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
- Expert knowledge of several infrastructure systems (such as Windows, MacOS, RedHat, Solaris, iOS, Android), programming languages, utilities, services, editors and anti-virus systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; intuitive thinking skills
- Ability to interface with an operating system, such as Windows, Mac OS and iOS and the respective editor; ability to write scripts
- Ability to perform architecting, planning, designing, implementing and troubleshooting of global client management systems
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
- Right to work in the UK with ability of security clearance (5+ years of UK residency)
