Job description
The Governors are looking to recruit a Deputy Headteacher from September 2024. This post has arisen due to the retirement of our current highly effective Deputy Headteacher. You will be given autonomy in the role which will ensure the delivery of high quality education with high standards in our popular two form entry school; strategically you will also lead on the day-to-day running of the school (timetables and cover) alongside the Headteacher. If appropriate, this role may also include a 0.2 teaching commitment (i.e. one lesson daily).
We are looking for a candidate who already has some experience in an SLT role, perhaps as an AHT or DHT. We would expect you to have the experience and skills to deal with delivering a well-designed curriculum, and developing and maintaining high quality teaching and learning, leading to high standards. Experience of safeguarding would be essential. You must have the capacity to understand the logistics of working and organising a busy, primary school and be calm under pressure.
We are a friendly, hardworking team in our Ofsted rated Good School (September 2023) and you will join a highly effective Senior Leadership Team. We serve a diverse community with over 50 languages spoken and additionally have significant levels of SEND and Pupil Premium. Our recent inspection report notes that behaviour in class is excellent and that children enjoy learning and look forward to coming to school. West Twyford is a school where children’s interests are the priority. The staff are passionate, dedicated and work well as a team. We value staff CPD and all relevant training will be offered. We are conveniently located near to the A40 and the central and piccadilly underground lines as well as buses from Ealing Broadway; we also have a staff car park. Our newly built school building is well maintained, spacious and a pleasure to work in.
We welcome you to come and have a tour of the school from our Headteacher, Mr Shapland. Tours will be offered on: Monday 26th February from 1-2pm; Thursday 29th February from 10:00 – 11.00am; Thursday 7th March from 10:00 – 11:00am and Tuesday 12th March from 3:45 – 4:30pm (although we encourage you to see the school when pupils are learning, we understand the difficulties being released from school at times). Please phone the school office on 0208 985 6858 to arrange.
We have a clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. The Successful candidate will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service. Further information can be found at .
