One of three team leaders that supervise operational teams responsible for ensuring successful acquisition of all types of temporary and privately rented accommodation. This role will focus on nightly paid emergency accommodation.
Ensure that there is capability in the acquisition process to acquire accommodation on an emergency basis so that appropriate accommodation is sourced swiftly to meet the demands of the Housing Options Team and other departments. Direct and effectively control the day to day delivery of one of the Council’s statutory Housing Options & Advice functions. To be responsible for the provision of a quality service of information, advice and casework service to fulfil the authority’s statutory duty to provide clients with a long-term housing solution.
Direct and effectively deliver the robust assessment and management of housing suitability reviews in accordance with homelessness legislation, code of guidance, policies and procedures, ensuring effective work allocation and legal challenges to decisions are kept under review, by assessing performance, risk, cost and the need for operational policy changes.
You will use your knowledge of the market and experience to recommend and negotiate rent levels for nightly paid emergency accommodation and direct the acquisition of nightly paid emergency accommodation to ensure that size and type meet the demands of the service. Ensure and oversee timely and effective handbacks of nightly paid emergency accommodation and if required, assist in the handback of other types of temporary accommodation and private rental sector accommodation.
Monitoring the quality and cost effectiveness of accommodation by ensuring that acquisitions comply with the most recent safety rating standards and provide best value for the Council, and the performance and viability of procurement contracts and providers. Identifying potential improvements wherever possible.
Actively champion continuous improvement and the implementation of automation and efficient ways of working and to contribute to the overall development, effectiveness and efficiency of the service.”
