Job description

A fantastic opportunity for Teachers of French who have experience of leadership or aspire to become subject leaders, starting September 2024.

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious French specialist to join our school as a full time Teacher of French from September 2024, with responsibility for leadership of the subject under the Head of Languages. Candidates will join a large and successful Languages department at an exciting time of its development at one of Surrey’s highest achieving schools. French is offered as an option from Year 7 up to A Level and it is one of the most popular languages in the school. The successful candidates will have a real passion for language learning and teaching as well as a proven track record of excellent results, experience of teaching Oxbridge classes would be helpful. A willingness to run residential trips, exchanges and enrichment days is key for the role. The ability to offer a second or multiple languages to at least KS3 would be advantageous, especially Spanish, German or Mandarin. 

Depending on your experience this would either suit someone wishing to take a middle leadership role or teaching position. The successful candidate will be an effective professional, knowledgeable and passionate about their subject and able to inspire a love for their subject. The successful candidate should also be willing to contribute to the school’s varied and rewarding co-curricular programme.  

Although the incumbent post is a full-time role, for the right part time requests for 0.8 and above will be considered.  

Salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience. The City of London Freemen’s School operates its own salary scale which is substantially above the national pay scales.
