Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire

The Role

Are you a natural problem solver with good initiative and strong negotiation skills? Are you calm and self-motivated with a can-do attitude? Are you able to work on a variety of different tasks whilst responding to changing priorities?

Do you have an interest in ICT and a strong understanding of Health & Safety? Do you have experience of Facilities Management?

If so, we would like to hear from you.  Shropshire Wildlife Trust has grown significantly in recent years, and we have increased our operational support so that delivery teams and other specialist staff can focus their efforts on achieving the charity’s strategic objectives. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic individual to join the Trust in the key role of Operations Manager.  The Operations Manager is responsible for the management of Facilities, ICT and Health & Safety.

Experience in a similar job would be ideal, but if you can demonstrate that you have acquired the necessary skills in a different role or sector and can apply them at SWT, we would welcome your application.

It is essential that you can form strong working relationships with a range of specialist teams.

A good, confident working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Microsoft Office 365 is desirable. ICT is a key part of this job, but you do not need to be an ICT specialist.  The Trust already uses Office 365 and Teams; and has support from an external contractor.  Experience of buildings & facilities management along with negotiating and managing contracts would also be desirable.

The Trust is committed to building an equal, diverse and inclusive workforce. We encourage applications from a diverse range of suitably qualified candidates.

Why work for us - benefits we offer:

About us:

Shropshire Wildlife Trust (SWT) has a vision of a thriving natural world, where Shropshire's wildlife and natural habitats play a valued role in addressing the climate and ecological emergencies, and people are inspired and empowered to take action for nature. We combine projects across Shropshire (including Telford & Wrekin) with advocacy and campaigning to restore nature and to engage people. We manage over 40 nature reserves and have almost 50 staff, 300 volunteers, and over 9000 members. SWT is an autonomous charity, but we are increasingly working collectively, as part of The Wildlife Trusts (TWT), to ensure that our local actions have a national impact and help to address global issues.
