A quick look at the role.
To optimise the performance and maintenance of electrical/mechanical plant and equipment used to extract and deliver landfill gas for utilisation and or disposal.
Van and fuel card will be supplied. Personal use of the vehicle is included.
The days of work are Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.
There will also be an on-call rota in which the Service Engineer will need to be available to offer assistance remotely or in person (where applicable).

- Supervise and Review the performance of contractors, and ensure that they are prioritised and deployed efficiently and effectively. Maintain records of their work, scrutinise the same and ensure that service histories are kept up to date.
- Assess the performance of current plant and equipment and identify areas for improvement.
- When necessary, directly respond to plant or equipment failure to ensure that it is reinstated as soon as is practicable.
- Assist with the Mentoring and coaching of the gas technicians to improve their technical knowledge and understanding of the specialised equipment used across the portfolio for gas handling.
- Monitor plant conformance against DSEAR regulations and applicable EU/UK machinery regulations and directives. Advise the management team of any shortfalls or the need to upgrade or replace existing equipment associated with the gas extraction plant and electrical distribution systems on site.
- Assist with the Management and maintenance, service and repair of installed electrical (HV and LV) equipment for power generation and liaise with specialist contractors and suppliers to this regard, whilst maintaining compliance with contractual and legal obligations at all times throughout.
- Manage the maintenance service and repair of installed flare and gas plant equipment and liaise with specialist contractors and suppliers to this regard, whilst maintaining compliance with contractual and legal obligations at all times throughout.
- The individual will also be responsible for carrying out flare service work as part of the role, in addition to managing “specialist contractors”.
Requirements
Here’s what we require:
- NVQ/HNC or similar engineering qualification.
- Electrically bias is advantageous.
- Self-disciplined to establish own work program and pattern.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weathers.
- UK driving license.
