Manage services within designated scope of authority3.1 Agree service requirements with Ward Manager /Matron.3.2 Identify, plan and amend service requirements in consultation withrelevant stakeholders.3.3 Maintain a healthy, safe and productive working environment in linewith legal, organisational and Nursing & Midwifery Councilrequirements.3.4 Monitor the quality of nursing services and the products used.3.5 Ensure that all policy and procedure relating to infection prevention andcontrol is implemented.A5. Manage change in work methods and practice that will improve thestandards of care for patients5.1 Identify opportunities for improvements in nursing practice ashighlighted through evidence and research based practice.5.2 Agree the introduction of change.5.3 Plan the implementation of changes in work methods and practice.5.4 Evaluate the impact of changes on standards of patient care.B. MANAGE RESOURCESB1. Support the efficient use of resources1.1 Make recommendations for the use of resources.1.2 Contribute to the control of resources.B2. Manage the use of physical resources in consultation withMatron/Sisters/Charge Nurses, to ensure a cost-effective service isprovided2.1 Plan the use of physical resources.2.2 Support the deployment of physical resources.2.3 Obtain resources, staff and non-staff.2.4 Ensure availability of supplies.2.5 Maintain the supply of physical resources.2.6 Monitor compliance against budget in conjunction with Matron.B3. Manage the use of financial resources3.1 Control expenditure against budgets in consultation with the WardManager.C. MANAGE THE TEAM AND INDIVIDUALS IN THE TEAMC2.Develop and maintain good communication skills e.g.Imparting complex and at times sensitive information, acknowledgingbarriers to understanding.C3. Maintain and develop own competence and expertise. To act as a rolemodel and comply with the NMC statutory regulations at all times3.1 Continuously develop your own knowledge and skills, particularly inrelation to evidence-based practice.3.2 Prioritise work to meet personal and organisational objectives.3.3 Maintain clinical skills relevant to speciality e.g. venepunctureand cannulation, Advanced Life support.C5. Deal with poor performance in the team16.1 Support team members who have problems affecting theirclinical/professional performance.16.2 Highlight any issues/problems to the Ward Manager and ClinicalMatron to ensure appropriate action is carried out.
