Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking Housekeeper to join our busy, friendly Birchfield team.
Duties include cleaning of toilets, classrooms, corridors, stairs and offices. Training will be provided.
Working pattern: Monday to Friday 3:00pm to 7:00pm, throughout the year
Hours per Week: 20 hours per week
The successful candidate will have:
• High standards of cleanliness, tidiness and organisation
• Some experience of cleaning in large areas
• A willingness to undertake training
Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the DBS.

Job Description
Job Title: Housekeeper
Reports To: Food & Budget Manager
Accountable to: Site Manager and Headmistress
Working pattern: Monday to Friday 3:00pm to 7:00pm, throughout the year
Hours per Week: 20 hours per week
Job Purpose
To undertake individually or as a member of the team, the cleaning of any designated areas to the highest possible standard, as directed within the school, reporting to the Site Manager or the Headmistress.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To carry out all cleaning to required standards of cleanliness as specified by the school
• To ensure any tools or light equipment and machinery supplied e.g. Vacuum cleaners and polishers for use are kept in good condition and stored securely in the designated areas
• To maintain all School standards of hygiene and safety of all cleaning equipment and cleaning cupboards in your charge
• To ensure the safe use of chemicals and cleaning materials as instructed by your Line Manager following Health and Safety guidelines and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• To carry out all work in line with Health and Safety guidelines, regulations and risk assessments
• To report any hazards, defects and any relevant factors of breakdowns of equipment that may be detrimental to safe working practices, immediately to your Line Manager
• To inform the Site Manager of additional supplies or cleaning materials required
• To report any damage, graffiti or hazards to the Site Manager
• To place all rubbish from bins in sacks and take to the designated area
• To undertake all cleaning duties including washing, sweeping, vacuuming, emptying of litter bins, dusting and polishing of the designated areas including toilets, showers, fixtures and fittings and inner glass
• To cover for absent colleagues and undertake any other reasonable cleaning or allied task as requested by the Site Manager or Headmistress
• To read, understand and adhere to the School rules and policies relating to equal opportunities, health and safety, child protection and dealing with pupils, staff and parents.
Flexibility
The above list is not exhaustive and other duties may be attached to the post from time to time. Variation may occur to the duties and responsibilities without changing the general character of the post.
