Job Title: Tigerlily Childcare Apprentice Nursery Practitioner/Trainee Nursery practitioner - Upper Norwood Area
Salary: Starting from £6.40 per hour (they fund all training costs) Hours per week: 20/30 hours per week (depending on training provider’s arrangements)
Special conditions: The post holder must be able and willing to complete NVQ L2/ L3 training within 12 months, the term of the contract The post holder must be able and willing to work a five day week on varying shifts between 8am and 6pm The successful candidate will be asked to apply for a criminal disclosure check (DBS).
Some convictions (spent or unspent) may exclude candidates from the recruitment process. Main Duties and Responsibilities Responsible to: The Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager & Room Leader Responsibilities:
** some of the responsibilities listed below will only be expected of a trainee after their full induction training has been given. However, they are listed below as a point of reference **
- To be a reliable member of the team, working co-operatively and with flexibility.
- To engage in effective and positive communication with the children, parents and colleagues.
- To be familiar with all emergency and security procedures, e.g. fire procedures, routines for dropping off and collecting children etc.
- To supervise the children at play (indoor and outdoor) and at mealtimes.
- To assist in making provision for and meeting the developmental needs of the children with support from senior staff and co-workers
- To assist in the setting up and clearing away of planned activities or as requested by co-workers
- To observe the day to day behaviour and development of the children and do observations to be used in the children’s personal profile
- To have key person responsibilities, alongside a qualified member of staff.
- To do reports on the children with assistance from room staff
- To attend parents’ evenings, be involved in fund-raising events, and assist with the promotion of the nursery as required
- To maintain proper standards of control and a healthy safe play environment
- To undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery.
- Operate the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the bedding and nappy changing/toileting area, and food service areas.
- To assist in organising and supervising visits to the local amenities
- To attend training and staff meetings as requested
- To undertake any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post, properly directed by the line manager.
