In a nutshell
As Head of Sales Performance and Operations, you'll be a crucial member of our Global Sales Leadership Team, directly responsible for crafting, leading & implementing the Global Sales Performance & Operations strategy, providing strong leadership, insight, and guidance to ensure all our sales teams are informed and enabled for success.
You will lead and transform our commercial trading and performance capability with clear, relevant, and insightful data, enabling all our teams to implement with precision and focus. Operationally, this role leads the teams delivering an outstanding service experience for our agency and corporate partners, whilst our Sales Innovation teams will deliver best practice enablement and digital tools to our selling organisation around the world.
This is a vital leadership role for global sales, leading best-in-class capability with their direct team as well as setting a wider culture of performance focus, disciplined execution and sales innovation across the whole of Global Sales, our wider Commercial Stakeholders and our EJV partners and relevant forums.
Day to day
- Empower the team for lasting impact through mentoring, installing the right capabilities, and attracting talent while crafting opportunities for talent to thrive in an inclusive and respectful team environment
- Align and optimize our global sales support capability, ensuring best practice is delivered consistently and our digital tools and reporting are enhanced.
- Overhaul our current data and performance processes and related reporting, ensuring consistent high-level reporting and insight that is recognised and supported by partners.
- Develop our suite of performance data visualisation insights. From our weekly SLT performance packs to the Power BI views required for our sellers, ensuring consistency, simplicity, and valuable insight for all.
- Optimising our cost of sale & dealing budgets, ensuring our investments work incredibly hard for us and all partnerships deliver against their stated goals and return on investments
- Develop our tactical trading capabilities, ensuring insights lead to fast action to optimise all commercial opportunities as they arise, as well as mitigate all commercial risks.
- Provide ongoing coaching and leadership to build a team of performance and operations professionals into a cohesive global unit that is a destination of choice for the most promising airline talent
- Contribute strategically to the growth and direction of the overall team Plan, manage and deliver the roadmap for our sales operations & sales improvements and initiatives (i.e. Salesforce & sales tools).
- Partner with all JV & Commercial customers to ensure aligned creation and delivery of our Global Sales performance objectives, ensuring we track against all commercial goals, including specific commercial initiatives.
- Build an outstanding sales forecasting, pipeline, and renewal operating cadence utilising Salesforce implementation.
- Ensure robust data and reporting capabilities are established across our groups team to understand our pipeline, throughput and outcomes including revenue delivery.
- Set sales targets annually as part of overall Sales revenue planning
- Play an active role in delivering VAA's overall strategy as a member of the global Sales Leadership Team (SLT) and the wider Virgin Atlantic Senior Leadership Group.
About you
- Do you have a proven track record of project and/or commercial initiative delivery through high-level collaboration in a revenue or operations-focused role? Are you an excellent communicator, leader and people manager?

- Alongside the above, we're looking for the following:
- Extensive and proven business management and commercial skills, with a particular focus on data, data management, analytics, and digital analytical tooling.
- The ability to create strategic focus and direction, with the ability to deliver against a plan at a departmental level.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence partners at all levels.
- Specifically crafting board-level content to ensure a clear and robust understanding of relevant insights, trends and initiatives.
- Adept at interpreting MI to identify trends and identify/implement actions to address specific risks/opportunities.
- Experience in managing and implementing change programmes, including process and system changes
- Knowledge in airline sales or a relevant large blue-chip organisation
- Effective resource planning experience and skills
