SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: primary school in Sudbury
Description: Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN)? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our team at primary school. In this role, you will provide one-to-one support for a young child with SEN who requires extra assistance to thrive in the classroom environment.
Responsibilities: - Provide one-to-one support to a young child with SEN, ensuring their inclusion and participation in classroom activities.
- Assist the child in building a positive and trusting relationship to foster their learning development and address their specific educational needs.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement strategies that support the child's individual learning goals and promote their overall well-being.
- Help the child focus during lessons, engage actively in their learning activities, and develop essential academic and social skills.
- Provide additional support as needed during classroom instruction, adapting teaching methods to meet the unique needs of the child with SEN.
- Monitor the child's progress and communicate effectively with teachers, SENCO, and parents regarding their development and any adjustments to support strategies.
- Create a supportive and nurturing environment where the child feels valued, respected, and encouraged to succeed, promoting their self-esteem and confidence.
Requirements: - Previous experience working with children with SEN is preferred, but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with children with diverse learning needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational growth of young learners, particularly those with SEN.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods and support strategies to meet the individual needs of children with SEN.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCO, and parents to ensure coordinated support.
- Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support are desirable but not essential.
