Job description
We are seeking a Band 4 Rehabilitation Engineering Technician to be part of our clinical team, working in a variety of settings across the county, assessing for, planning, fabricating, assembling or modifying manual and powered wheelchairs, seating and accessories for clients of all ages with a wide range of disabilities.
You will contribute to risk management in your own practice area, as well as supporting risk management within the Warehouse and Clinical practice. You will work closely with our Admin team and the Warehouse and Repairs team in a variety of activities, including quality management and audit.
You will report to our existing Rehabilitation Engineers, receiving regular supervision and professional guidance to ensure best practice and compliance with MDR and Trust Policies within the service.

You will work autonomously (on your own or jointly with different clinicians) or with support from our existing Rehabilitation Engineers, combining engineering, medical device regulations and clinical knowledge to optimise the outcome for the client. This may be face-to-face with the client or in the workshop preparing equipment for individual clients or for stock.
You will be expected to manage your own caseload and be proactive in contributing to management of the service workload in an efficient and effective way to meet service KPIs. You will document clinical and technical activity on our database, maintaining and managing the clinical and asset records according to NHS standards.
You will be working with the Wheelchair Service Team (Clinical, Administrative, Warehouse and Repairs Team) across both sites, Acorn Building, St Leonards Hospital site and also at Unit F2, Marabout Industrial Estate, Dorchester.
As a service and organisation we promote and encourage training, which can be inhouse, external or Trust organised.
