Ancillary Services Manager Selby/London/Glasgow/hybrid (2-3 days per week in the office)About the role As an Ancillary Services Manager, you’ll drive the long term strategic commercial plan for Drax’s engagement with Ancillary Services, seeking opportunities for new and enhanced services which support the overall Trading and Optimisation objectives.Day to day, you’ll monitor market developments and report on current and future revenues, whilst advising on high level Electricity System Operator (ESO) system needs and the suitability of Drax’s assets to meet these needs through participation in various ESO procurement opportunities.Supporting business change (principally Generation, IT, Legal and Trading and Optimisation), you’ll enable entry into new services, particularly short-term auctions.Stakeholder engagement will be key, managing the commercial relationship between Drax Group and the ESO, as well as the commercial relationship with the ESO Balancing Services team and key external stakeholder. You’ll develop and agree long term strategic commercial plan for Ancillary Services with key stakeholders including generation, wider T&O team, IT and Compliance and manage the tendering process for existing and new services. About you Experience of undertaking bilateral negotiations from start through to conclusion is a must, as is proven knowledge and experience in an analytical/market facing or engineering role within the power industry.You’ll have broad experience and understanding of Ancillary Services, having worked in a high-pressure result orientated operational and commercial environment. You’ll be able to work under pressure and to juggle several different priorities in a rapidly changing work environment, whilst focussing on delivery performance and cost management to optimise margin for the business. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to present complex matters in a clear and concise format for non-technical colleagues.
