Job description
An opportunity to work on a UK Government Funded interdisciplinary Project that will investigate how innovative digital technology can be enhanced and adapted in the Higher Education environment, by investigating the impact of Artificial Intelligence data mining on Open Access Research Data, delivering digital solutions aimed at tracking, registering and ultimately protecting against Artificial Intelligence misuse during the research data life-cycle. You will be working with the School of Law and our business partner, Quantum-h, a Reading and London based technology company, who offer custom software solutions utilising digital technologies to solve business challenges. Quantum-h’s existing business offerings include AI Consulting, Custom Software Development, QR coding, NFC tag contactless solutions, Blockchain, Data Masking and Digital Authentication solutions. You will gain invaluable practical
business development and project skills in the AI technology space that will assist in career progression and potential opportunities after the Project.
Associate main duties and responsiblities
- Assist the Supervisor from the School of Law and the Business Partner in developing a Research Data Protection Tool.
- You will be responsible for looking at research data to develop a data-to-insight-to-action loops that will develop an understanding of the re-use of research data after AI data mining.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience required
- Current or post-doc student with an MSc in Data Science and Advanced Computing.
- Intrinsic understanding of AI concepts and infrastructures of AI models.
- Understanding Machine Learning Algorithms, including concepts such as the Bayesian statistical model, Gaussian process model and Tanimoto and Euclidean-based kernels.
- In-depth understanding of AI data mining techniques including HTML parsing, Data Mining and DOM Parsing.
- Understanding of data security tools such as cryptography and blockchain.
- Ability to work in a commercial environment to identify problems that can be resolved using data science techniques.
- Can apply business acumen to develop feasible data-based recommendations that will address organisational problems.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experiece:
- An understanding of open research data repositories.
- An understanding of persistent identifiers, ORCID and Crossref.
