Head of Product

ENSEK

Location

Nottingham | United Kingdom

Job description

We are a technology business operating in the global energy sector.

ENSEK have become the go-to option for top energy suppliers across the globe. Why? Because our technology is a significant step change away from the legacy systems that have historically dominated the market. It’s also massively cheaper to adopt the ENSEK solution, with no loss in customer service or standards.

But by far the biggest reason why ENSEK is the best choice in energy supplier software, is because of the people who work here and their endless enthusiasm, energy, and the way they support their colleagues. All our clients comment on what great people we have. Our people are our superpower.

That is where you come in.

Head of Product (Cost to Serve), is a newly created role in ENSEK, designed to work across our business and in concert with the Heads of Product in the established business units.

In this role, you will initially build and lead a dedicated cross-functional team to develop, implement and continually improve an empirical, data-driven approach towards prioritising engineering works, with a particular focus on Cost to Serve. You will apply this approach to identify and analyse opportunities to mitigate process bottlenecks and automate or eliminate repetitive manual and batch tasks, and manage these works through development to deployment, including measurement of outcomes, thereby delivering significant, measurable improvements in Cost to Serve across ours and our customers’ businesses.

Having delivered some early and measurable improvements, you will start to consider how machine learning techniques can be applied effectively to create a step-change in Cost to Serve improvement. Utilising your knowledge and experience, and leveraging that of those around you, you will develop and test hypotheses for smart automations that bring transformational new experiences for our internal agents and for our customers’ agents. How might ML be used to more quickly understand our customers’ customers’ intent, and get them to the outcome they had in mind? This is one of the big questions you will be asking yourself.

This is an exciting role for an experienced, data-driven Product Management professional, ideally from the consumer energy space, to build and lead a winning team, and to apply their analytical problem-solving approach to help us develop and refine new ways of working that effect significant positive change across our business and the industry.

· Develop and continuously improve an analytical data-driven approach to product improvement planning and execution with measurable outcomes, with a clear focus on Cost to Serve.

· Build, lead and develop a cross-functional product and delivery team including CX, data science, and engineering delivery squad.

· Leverage the knowledge of experts across the business and collaborate with established Heads of Product to bring significant CtS improvements that contribute to scalable growth of the business.

· Gain quick wins on high ROI works.

· Develop and test hypotheses for the effective application of machine learning to transform our service delivery and form a cohesive strategy for the development of ML-powered services for our customers and our customers’ customers.

· Develop, maintain and be able to clearly present/articulate an overall CtS improvement strategy, including short-term and long-term initiatives, that aligns with and delivers towards the overarching business strategy.

· Support your strategy and initiatives with formalised business plans that allow the business to evaluate required investments in terms of expected ROI and anticipated risk, monitor success towards goals and risk, and make well-considered course corrections as needed.

· Maintain the highest standards of quality in process, execution, product, services and documentation.

· Foster a culture that embraces and values change as an opportunity for growth and innovation, promoting a vision and set of values that empowers colleagues to participate in change.

· Add value to the experience of our clients, colleagues and other relevant stakeholders through practicing and promoting the ENSEK values.

· At least 8 years on formal product management roles, particularly in SaaS-based B2B2C products, ideally in the energy / utilities sector, with evidence of delivering measurable results.

· Good appreciation of data analysis and interpretation; adept at leveraging data to identify opportunities for improving Cost to Serve and making informed product decisions.

· A working experience of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

· Strong technical aptitude to allow effective collaboration with engineering teams, and appreciation of technical feasibility and approximate level of effort.

· Long- and short-term planning perspectives, the ability to translate and relate technical capabilities into a cohesive product strategy, and to relate that to the overall business strategy.

· Strong leadership and communication skills, with proven experience of effective team leadership and driving alignment across different stakeholders.

· Creative thinker, and problem solver, with experience of navigating and leading change initiatives at team and wider business level.
