Immigration and Compliance Manager – Borehamwood, Hertfordshire

Location: Westgate Healthcare Head Office, Unit 3, Devonshire Business Park, Chester Road, Borehamwood, WD6 1NA

Salary: £50k-£55k (depending on experience)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Job @type: Full time, permanent

Annual leave: 25 days, plus bank holidays

We are looking for an Immigration and Compliance Manager who is hands on, pro-active, highly organised, has excellent attention to detail and a proven ability to successfully implement and manage effective processes, checks and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory and Home Office requirements in relation to staff recruitment and ongoing staff management.

Applicants should have experience in leading on immigration and regulatory compliance matters, ideally in the healthcare sector. Westgate Healthcare holds several ‘A rated’ sponsorship licenses with the Home Office, and we largely sponsor staff in healthcare roles such as Nurses, Senior Healthcare Assistants and Care Assistants. The role of the Immigration and Compliance Manager will be heavily focussed on managing our sponsor licenses and migrant workers to ensure full compliance with Home Office requirements.

The ideal candidate will also have some HR generalist and recruitment experience. Applicants should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be computer literate with experience in using all Microsoft Office programmes.

We are looking for someone who can work independently, multi-task, manage a large workload in a fast-paced environment, and someone who has excellent interpersonal skills.

Westgate Healthcare is a family run, award winning care home provider. We currently have 8 care homes across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and East London, with plans to open more in the coming years. All of our care homes are currently rated as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by our regulator, the CQC.

About the role:

• Keep up to date with CQC and Home Office regulations, guidance and sponsor duty requirements. Implement and maintain systems, checks and processes to ensure full compliance across our recruitment checks and ongoing staff management
• Train others in the Company to understand their responsibilities in regards to this and embed robust policies, procedures and systems to support compliance
• Act as Level 1 user on UKVI Home Office Sponsor Management System (SMS) for all Westgate Healthcare licenses, and act as key contact and Home Office representative
• Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for sponsored workers. This includes working closely with external stakeholders such as recruitment agencies and legal advisors
• Ensure all sponsored worker records are correct and up to date in line with Home Office requirements and Appendix D sponsor guidance. Ensure immigration files are ready at all times for internal and external audit
• Fulfil sponsor license duties, including monitoring migrant worker activity and reporting information on the Sponsor Management System (SMS) within the required deadlines
• Be proficient in the use of the SMS and manage all aspects including maintaining sponsor license details, reporting license changes, applying for defined and undefined Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS), managing annual CoS allocations, and correctly assigning CoS
• Ensure right to work checks are correctly completed for all staff. Monitor immigration status and right to work expiries, and ensure no gap in valid right to work for any staff member
• Monitor staff with working restrictions (such as weekly working hour restrictions) and ensure restrictions are not breached

About you:

• The right to live and work in the UK
• Knowledge and experience relevant to the role in question
• CIPD HR qualification is desirable, however not essential
• Previous experience in the healthcare industry is preferable, however is not essential
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to independently manage workload whilst being able to respond to operational changes and challenges
• Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and communicate with a range of stakeholders
• Able to meet deadlines, multi-task, prioritise workload and used to working in a fast-paced environment
