Employment type : Permanent, Full-time 

Work hours : 09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday 

Location : Remote working – ideally visiting our office in either Bideford or Norwich once a month 

 
What will I be doing?  

As a Data Developer at Travel Chapter, you'll join our innovative product engineering team to design, implement, and maintain efficient and scalable data solutions that support our product development and customer needs. You'll play a crucial role in providing the product teams with accurate information as and when required for building systems for staff owners and customers. We work closely with development and QA teams ensuring we deliver the highest quality work. 

During the day you could be involved in: 

• Designing, building, and maintaining large scale data solutions and applications using the development tools employed. 
• Collaborating closely with Delivery and Product teams to provide progress updates and ensure timely project completion. 
• Maintaining data quality assurance processes to verify the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data alongside lead data developers. 
• Providing and supporting code reviews to enhance the quality of developments released. 
• Staying updated with the latest industry trends to incorporate best practices into our solutions. 
• Assisting in troubleshooting production issues and implementing measures to prevent recurrence. 
• Providing out-of-hours support as required in accordance with organizational SLAs. 

 

What we're looking for  

We know that the perfect candidate who ticks every box doesn’t exist, so if you’re excited by the role and can do most of the below, please get in touch. 

Ideally, we need:  

• Experience in data or API development. 
• Excellent understanding of databases and SQL. 
• Strong written and oral communication skills. 

• Commercial experience with MySQL, MS SQL Server, Python, building APIs, testing strategies, and Agile methodologies. 
• Curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. 
• Exceptional attention to detail. 
• Strong problem-solving skills. 
• Confidence to challenge and propose alternatives diplomatically. 
• Ability to navigate difficult conversations effectively. 
• Capacity to prioritise effectively and understand the broader context. 
• Persistence in advocating for quality deliverables while recognising when compromises are necessary. 

Desirable:  

• Familiarity with PHP, JSON, XML. 
• Experience with AWS, source code management tools like GitLab, MuleSoft, Salesforce, and ELT tools like Fivetran, Kleene, DBT, Snowflake.
