Job description

The Market Bosworth School is seeking to appoint an inspirational member of staff to join our talented Support Staff Team. The successful candidate will support our IT Network Manager the operation and development of our school computer network, maximising teaching and learning through the provision of a full range of IT resources. Whilst we would expect the new post holder to have a good personal level of IT knowledge and skills, self-motivation and a “can do” attitude is more important than specific previous experience or qualifications.

This is an exciting time for the School, as we build on our now established GCSE achievements of the last 7 years, where we have consistently achieved results within the top 5% of all schools. We have been the highest attaining state school in 3 of the last 4 years of published results. In 2023 our students’ progress was exceptional and the school achieved an overall progress score of +0.75.The purpose of this job is to help provide efficient, reliable and usable IT services across the school.
To support the IT Network Manager in ensuring the successful day to day running and maintenance of the school IT facilities, including undertaking tasks such as:
1st & 2nd line support to all users managed through a helpdesk ticketing system.
Installation of new software
Installation of new PCs / workstations
Physically checking IT rooms and equipment on a daily basis (including printers / projectors etc)
Ordering new consumables as required
Allocation of new users
Removal of former users
Repair fault finding
Ensuring all calls & queries are logged onto the helpdesk system and where needed to escalate to IT Network Manager, suppliers and 3rd party companies.
Helping trace abuse and misuse of systemsInstallation and maintenance of stand-alone or non-network machines
Responding as required to the school booking system for resources and rooms
Supporting IT security and virus protection policies
Facilitating the school IT backup procedures
With the support of the IT Network Manager, to help:
Plan, organise, source and purchase new hardware and software to keep the school at the forefront of technology, thus enabling IT to be an essential part of a student’s development.
Ensure the successful and cost provision of IT resources.
Undertake training and research to ensure that knowledge is up to date.
Provide appropriate support and on occasion training for staff and students in the use of school IT equipment.
Provide support to the HR and School Services Lead on wider school IT developments (Reprographics, equipment etc.) and purchasing.
Assist with the development of internet/intranet services and school cloud based systems (e.g Google suite, Show my Homework, School Website
