When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.

THE ROLE We are looking for a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join the team, working 21 hours per week.
Young lives vs Cancer is open to and in support of flexible working. We currently use a hybrid working model. This role falls under the hybrid - variable category. This role is part home, part site based (your contractual base will be both Home and Queen’s Medical Centre Hospital). You will have the opportunity to work remotely / from home within the parameters of our hybrid working arrangements. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at the interview stage.
The office-based working will be at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, to provide support to children and young people (0-24 years with a focus on under 18’s) diagnosed with cancer and leukaemia, and their families.
ABOUT YOU Our work is rewarding but also complex and demanding; you will need to be resourceful and resilient. You will work closely with our supportive Young Lives vs Cancer team, an established NHS multi-disciplinary team and with services in the community.
You will have: ·Current Social Work England Registration
·Experience of working with children, young people and their families/carers in a social care setting.
·Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
·Knowledge of child and young people development.
·An understanding of the impact of serious illness for children, young people and families.
·All applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills.
·Knowledge of child welfare and safeguarding
