Job Summary: The Housing Support Worker plays a crucial role in ensuring that housing support services are delivered effectively and that individuals have access to safe and suitable housing. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including working alongside the housing lead to support with the overseeing property standards, providing support to volunteers, leading tenant support, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and contributing to business development. They will also be supporting within the development of our new community hub within Bishop Auckland.
Key Responsibilities:
Housing:
1. Support in overseeing property standards, ensuring that all properties meet the Decent Homes Standard and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) requirements.
2. Provide mentoring, support, training, and supervision to volunteers involved in support.
3. Oversee a caseload of tenants and properties, ensuring their support needs are met effectively.
4. Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure compliance in properties, furniture, vehicles, and equipment used in housing support services.
5. Assist with deliveries and collections, including donations (where required).
6. Ensure the smooth running of the housing support service, including recording and monitoring information, addressing issues, liaising with other organizations, and attending relevant meetings, such as housing Panels and multi-agency meetings.
7. Contribute to the development of housing stock and assist in the overall development of the housing support service.
Maintenance:
8. Collaborate with the maintenance team to keep properties well-maintained, ensuring they adhere to the Decent Homes Standard and HHSRS.
9. Liaise with the housing lead to ensure that property repairs are completed in a timely manner.
10. Carry out minor repairs when required.
Business Development:
10. Innovate and generate ideas for increasing income and expanding services related to housing support.
11. Apply for smaller grants and donations to support housing support initiatives.
12. Be prepared to support other areas of service and step in when other leads are absent.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Level 2 in related field or equivalent experience; additional relevant education is a plus.
• Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of housing standards and regulations.
• Ability to provide support, mentoring, and training to volunteers.
• Experience in working with individuals in need of housing support.
• Proficiency in recording and monitoring service activities.
• Interest in contributing to business development efforts.
• Flexibility to address issues and support operations outside regular working hours.
• Ability to adapt and support other areas of service as required.

Job Summary:
Cornerstone is a Northeast based Charity dealing with homelessness and those most marginalized within our communities. We offer rough sleeper support, housing for those in serious housing distress as well as running a joinery social enterprise manufacturing outdoor buildings and furniture as well as offering vocational training opportunities. As part of our expanding support team, we are seeking a skilled and experienced support worker to join our charity. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including working alongside the housing lead to support with the overseeing property standards, providing support to volunteers, leading tenant support, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and contributing to business development. They will also be supporting within the development of our new community hub within Bishop Auckland.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in manufacturing processes within our outdoor building and furniture workshop.
Perform maintenance tasks in and around our supported and semi-supported properties, ensuring they are well-maintained and safe for use.
Assist with the delivery of products to customers and conduct on-site installations as needed.
