Syngenta's Grangemouth Manufacturing Centre is one of our two award-winning manufacturing sites in the UK. The site was founded in 1919 and today employs nearly 400 skilled people in a variety of roles that include manufacturing, engineering, scientific and production support. Our goal is to operate “safely, reliably and cost effectively” and to help growers protect their crops and increase their yield.

At Syngenta Grangemouth we have four plants dedicated to active ingredient (AI) manufacture, and one finished product formulation and packaging plant with the most recent facility opening in May 2010.

Job Description



Are you a strategic thinker with a strong background in Supply Chain Management, Production Planning and Operational Delivery?

As a key member of the Site Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Site Manager you will play a crucial role in driving on time delivery through rigorous planning and scheduling and ERP compliance. You will contribute to strategic planning, collaborate with cross functional groups, and lead a team planning and controlling the production schedule for all of the manufacturing assets.

The Planning Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process of fulfilling customer orders from Production Planning, and Scheduling through to ensuring timely delivery of products while optimising inventory levels and operational efficiency.

This role requires a strong understanding of Supply Chain management, Production Planning, Purchasing, Demand Forecasting, Material Planning, Master Data, and System Management.

This would be an ideal role for someone with a strong background in Demand/Production Planning with a knowledge of Logistics who wants to further their career with a market leading business.

You will be leading both the Planning & Production support Teams, preparing demand and supply scenarios, analysing the risks associated, and proposing mitigation plans. In addition you will develop and execute Scheduling Planning strategies that align with business goals.

Within this role you will collaborate with Global Supply Chain teams, Production, Quality Compliance, and Logistics teams to ensure complete customer satisfaction. In addition, you will manage and analyse demand forecasts to deliver production schedules whilst optimising inventory levels and avoiding shortages or excess inventory.

For this role you will need previous experience in supply chain management, demand/production planning, alongside experience working with ERP systems and demand planning software. Strong SAP knowledge especially on material master, MRP would be beneficial.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential to manage operational efficiency challenges. Previous experience in managing teams or cross-functional projects is a benefit but not essential.

Qualifications



Experience developing/implementing short and long-term strategy within supply chain, manufacturing, or technical role at leadership level preferable.

Welcomes responsibility and works well under pressure with excellent people skills and can provide clear management direction.

Excellent Health and Safety knowledge and expertise.

An eye for Continuous Improvement and Lean system tools knowledge such as OEE, SMED, 5S, Blitz Kaizen, Kan Ban, 5Why.

Good relationship builder with internal and external customers.

An excellent communicator with the ability to lead and motivate teams and work cross functionally.

Degree level qualification or equivalent in a related discipline or equivalent an advantage but not essential.

Experience of working in manufacturing environment, ideally focused on low volume, high value and high complexity products.

Experience working with ISO9001:2015 quality system, working with quality standards and helping implement internal practices to ensure compliance with standards.

A background in Production Planning & Management from master production scheduling through to detailed shop floor scheduling.

Essential Knowledge of ERP systems, competent in transactional and data extraction.

Knowledge of Inventory control.

A proven track record of driving improvement and delivering results.
