Total Remuneration Package: Remuneration package valued at up to $145,985.00. Base salary ranges from $85,000.00 to $129,948.00, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available depending on experience.

Position Information
Athelstane Public School has strong community connections with a diverse, inclusive and multi-cultural community with high expectations for success for every student. We acknowledge our school is on Bidjigal country.
Our school is located in the metropolitan south area of Sydney and has a student enrolment of 287 students. The student population reflects this multi-cultural community with 93% of students having a language background other than English. The main language backgrounds of students are Arabic, English, Mongolian and Bengali. The Arabic Community Language Program supports students in learning and developing communicative skills and knowledge in a community language. EAL/D and New Arrival support provides students opportunities to develop skills as English language learners. We are a K-6 school with 4 inclusive classes.
Athelstane Public School has a strong focus on literacy and numeracy utilising evidence based teaching practices, personalised learning and collaborative practices.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach primary English as a Second Language or currently completing or currently enrolled in an approved postgraduate qualification for teaching English as a Second Language primary as recognised by the NSW Department of Education.
2. Ability to use assessment tools, ESL Scales and EALD Learning Progressions to assess student language development and inform programming.
3. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a variety of teams and build positive relationships with all members of the school community.
4. Demonstrated evidence-leading professional learning and collaborating with staff to incorporate EALD strategies into daily classroom practice.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a Second Language (primary or secondary) as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 12 months.
